What are they?
Olive oil is a fat extracted from the fruit of the Olea europaea (olive tree). Mediterranean region, where whole olives are pressed to derived olive oil, is the hometown of the olive tree.
The oil has many usages in cosmetics, medicine, cooking and soaps as well as being used as a fuel for traditional lamps. In spite of coming from Mediterranean countries, olive oil is globally used nowadays.
Olive oil includes free radical-zapping antioxidants, which play an important role in the prevention of numerous different illnesses, consisting of disease, stroke, DNA damage, and cancer, especially, breast and stomach cancer.
Among them is hydroxytyrosol, which helps to aid cancer and osteoporosis prevention.

- Olive oil can be added to your salads.
- Make Spaghetti with olive oil, garlic and chilli.
- You can make Swiss chard and Parma ham tart with olive oil crust.
- Olive oil confit chicken: Olive oil is often used as an ingredient for confit in Provence because of its much more cost-effective compared to duck fat. The sweet but sharp salad along with the richness chicken is the best combination.
- Olive oil biscotti: most common Italian biscotti are usually made with butter; however, using olive oil instead will create a lighter, slightly different flavour.
