If you have diabetes and occasionally have an “Oopsie”, it happens to the best of us. Don’t worry, we’ve got your back. Our evidence-based diabetic formula is packed with ingredients that have been shown to help reduce blood glucose levels over the long term.

You could buy these ingredients separately but we’ve conveniently put them all into one supplement to make it easier for you to be healthy.

One and done!

Ingredient Information for Diabetic Support Formula

D-Biotin (B7) – Our formula uses D-biotin because out of eight different types of biotin, only D-biotin occurs naturally and is biologically active. D-biotin is a water-soluble B vitamin and is involved in lipid, protein and carbohydrate metabolism. It also aids in glucose synthesis and helps break down fatty acids.

Alpha Lipoic Acid (ALA) – ALA is a powerful, plant-based antioxidant that destroys free radicals that cause cellular damage. According to the University of Maryland Medical Center, studies suggest ALA helps lower blood sugar levels. It may also improve insulin sensitivity, and decrease oxidative stress and inflammation. German research has shown that ALA was successful in treating diabetic nerve damage. The same researchers say that ALA enhances the action of insulin and other anti-diabetic drugs. There are such small amounts of ALA in food, and it has so many benefits, that it is thought that almost everyone could benefit by taking this supplement.

Vitamin C – An antioxidant that lowers the levels of sorbitol, the sugar that damages cells in the eyes, kidneys, and nerves. Diabetes may lower serum vitamin C concentrations.

Vitamin D3 (Cholecalciferol) – We use D3 instead of D2 (ergocalciferol) because D3 is about 87% more potent in raising and maintaining vitamin D concentrations than D2, and is also converted into its active form 500% faster than D2. Vitamin D boosts production of antimicrobial peptides which destroy viruses, bacteria, and other germs, which is helpful for diabetics, who usually have weakened immunity. An insufficiency of vitamin D may negatively influence blood sugar control. A vitamin D deficiency has been shown to alter insulin synthesis and secretion. Vitamin D is one of the most common vitamin deficiencies in the United States. It is estimated that 70% of the U.S. population is not getting adequate D. Another study found that only 10% of the U.S. population had therapeutic levels of vitamin D3 in their systems. In addition to possibly boosting insulin synthesis, adequate levels of vitamin D will elevate your mood, improve your memory and other cognitive abilities. It can take several months for vitamin D supplementation to normalize levels.

Vitamin E (d-alpha tocopherol) – We use d-alpha tocopherol because it is better absorbed than the synthetic form, dl-alpha tocopherol. Vitamin E is a fat-soluble antioxidant that improves glucose control. It protects blood vessels and nerves from free radical damage, which is accelerated by diabetes. Vitamin E can reduce protein glycosylation in diabetics.

Magnesium Bisglycinate – We use bisglycinate because it is much more bio-active than other types of magnesium. It is four times more effective than citrate forms of magnesium. Magnesium decreases insulin resistance and helps keep blood sugar levels under control. It is thought that a deficiency in magnesium interrupts insulin secretion in the pancreas and increases insulin resistance in the body’s tissues. After vitamin D, magnesium deficiency is the second most common nutrient deficiency in developed countries. In the U.S. magnesium deficiency can be due to our consumption of processed foods and the depletion of magnesium from agricultural soil and water. Caffeine and alcohol consumption also deplete magnesium. It can take three months to see results of magnesium supplementation.

Chromium Picolinate – A trace mineral that improves the action of insulin and improves glucose metabolism. Chromium helps balance glucose levels and gives stable energy.

Pyridoxal-5-Phosphate (P5P) – We use P5P instead of vitamin B6 because P5P is the bio-active form of B6 and some people have trouble converting B6 into P5P. P5P supports nerve health which can help diabetic neuropathy and it is also important for amino acid and carbohydrate metabolism. B6 may improve glucose tolerance. B6 deficiency is common among diabetics and leads to reduced secretions of insulin and glucagon. B6 is necessary for making serotonin and helps balance dopamine and norepinephrine. B vitamins are water-soluble and aren’t stored in your body, so they need to be constantly replenished. Many substances can prevent B6 from being absorbed, including alcohol, coffee, birth control pills, food coloring and more. In addition, B vitamins are delicate and are easily destroyed by microwaving, freezing, canning and heat.

Vitamin B12 (Methylcobalamin) – Most B12 supplements use cyanocobalamin which is chemically synthesized. We use methylcobalamin because it is naturally occurring and bio-active. It is also retained in higher amounts within your tissues. B12 deficiency is a common problem for many older adults, vegans and vegetarians. As we age, the absorption of B12 from food declines. Alcohol consumptions depletes B12 and issues with GI function can lead to deficiency because B12 absorption depends on digestive enzymes and stomach acids being in balance. Metformin can deplete B12 as well. B12 is needed for the synthesis of melatonin and will help improve sleep, mood, memory, and brain cell health. B12 is one of the best vitamins for diabetics who suffer from neuropathy and/or a compromised immune system.

Zinc Orotate – We use zinc orotate because it passes through cell membranes easier than other types of zinc; therefore there are higher concentrations in your tissues. Zinc gluconate and zinc oxide are popular but not bio-available; very little is absorbed by your body. Zinc is required to utilize P5P (B6) and is depleted by alcohol consumption. Zinc is an antioxidant and may protect beta cells in the pancreas from being destroyed. It is also necessary for the manufacture of insulin in the beta cells.

About Leaning Tree Naturals

Why I Do What I Do

In 2011, I suffered a concussion and went from having occasional migraines to having daily migraines. I didn’t like taking medications from the pharmacy which caused side effects, and so I resigned myself to suffering. In an effort to be healthier, I started taking numerous bio-available supplements in early 2017 that I had read about in a book by a biochemist. After 2 weeks I realized that my daily migraines had stopped (Yay!!) and after hours and hours of reading the latest studies and information on migraines, I determined which supplements were responsible for eliminating my migraines. I was tired of buying all of the supplements separately and was also having a difficult time finding high-quality supplements that used the bio-active forms of the vitamins and minerals. For example, there are many different types of magnesium available on the market, and the one most commonly used, magnesium oxide, is used because it is the cheapest and increases profit margins for the supplement seller. Unfortunately, magnesium oxide is poorly absorbed by the human GI tract and most of it ends up wasted. At Leaning Tree Naturals we use magnesium bisglycinate chelate, which is the most bio-available form of magnesium available. It costs a little more but it actually works because your body can utilize it.

I decided to make my own migraine formulation because I couldn’t find any other product that was similar and I wanted to help other people be able to experience life without migraines like I have. I can’t wait to help as many people as possible live happier, more productive lives!

After I discovered that most supplements are in a form that our bodies cannot use, I decided I wanted to make other formulations as well. We all deserve excellent products at a fair price that actually work so I also created a Diabetic Support Formula that helps control blood glucose levels, reduces neuropathy, increases insulin sensitivity, and reduces oxidative stress. I plan to add more supplement formulas in the future for vision, mood support, immune health, antioxidant support, sleep, heart health, and memory/cognitive health.
